Our Services

Support. Structure. Safety. Success.

Thrive Alternative Provision offers a flexible, therapeutic education setting for children and young people aged 4 to 16 who are struggling in mainstream education. We help learners reconnect with school, build resilience, and develop the skills they need to succeed — both academically and emotionally.

Part-Time Alternative Provision (2.5 Days Per Week)

Our core offer is a part-time placement designed to complement mainstream school. Students attend Thrive for 2.5 days per week while remaining on roll at their mainstream school. This helps them:

  • Access targeted, small-group teaching

  • Receive therapeutic and emotional support

  • Rebuild confidence in a calm, nurturing environment

  • Work toward reintegration or longer-term placement stability

Academic Interventions

We assess and support pupils in literacy and numeracy, using proven interventions such as:

  • Read Write Inc. and Precision Teaching (phonics and decoding)

  • NumberSense and Maths Recovery (numeracy gaps)

  • 1:1 and small group teaching adapted to each learner’s pace and level

Our aim is to close learning gaps and, more importantly, help children feel successful in the classroom again.

Therapeutic and SEMH Support

We specialise in supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This includes:

  • Zones of Regulation and individualised calming plans

  • Emotion coaching and restorative conversations

  • Access to a sensory room and low-stimulation spaces

  • Weekly wellbeing check-ins

  • Small group sessions on emotional literacy, anxiety, and self-awareness

All staff are trained in trauma-informed practice, autism, ADHD, and attachment awareness.

The Thrive Mentoring Model

Older students (Years 7–11) act as trained mentors for younger pupils in structured, supervised roles. This cross-age mentoring promotes:

  • Empathy and responsibility in older learners

  • Confidence and connection for younger pupils

  • A culture of mutual respect and peer support

It’s unique, and it works — creating meaningful relationships and personal growth for everyone involved.

Family Support and Partnership

We work closely with families to support consistency between home and school. This includes:

  • Weekly contact with Thrive staff

  • Behaviour coaching and home strategies

  • Monthly family workshops (e.g. boundaries, sleep, communication)

  • Joint target setting and regular progress reviews

We believe parents are our partners, not bystanders.

  • Be at risk of exclusion or have been excluded

  • Be experiencing school-based anxiety or trauma

  • Have diagnosed or undiagnosed SEND, including autism and ADHD

  • Struggle with emotional regulation, sensory processing, or peer relationships
